World Bank gives $110 million Malawi’s agriculture

The World Bank on Tuesday signed two financial agreements with the Malawi worth US$110 million towards the implementation of the Agriculture Sector Wide Approach (Aswap) and HIV/AIDS interventions.

Out the $110 million funds committed, $80 million will go towards nutrition and HIV/AIDS project while the remaining $30 million will support the implementation of Aswap, previously known as the Agriculture Development Program (ADP).

The Aswap funds are an additional financing to an initial credit of $32 million which the World Bank provided to Malawi in the year 2008.
