Memory, a mother of five, has been leaving her home at 3 am everyday in the last four days.
She lives in Chinsapo, a township just outside Lilongwe’s CBD. She walked for over two hours to reach Lilongwe Admarc depot along Paul Kagame Highway, in search of the staple maize.
For four days Memory could not buy enough maize to feed her children. Today, after a long wait in the scorching heat, she gave up and collapsed. This is the story of poor Malawian women struggling to feed their children amidst soaring food prices everyday.
